Our Principal

Brian Frost

Brian Frost started serving as the principal at Mary Fay Pendleton in the 2018-19 school year. He led the school through the construction process as the new campus was built. He brings a wealth of experiences including curriculum and instruction, educational technology, and site leadership. Brian has a BA in International Relations from the University of San Diego, and a MA in Educational Leadership from Cal State San Marcos.

Mr. Frost has worked in education since 1997. He worked as an Instructional Aide, a classroom teacher, an educational technology specialist, an assistant principal, and a principal. He continues his path of professional development through professional associations such as ACSA, the Association of California School Administrators. “I love working around the energy of a school site. There are so many interactions with students, staff, parents, and community members in a given day, and each of those interactions (big or small) all have a meaningful impact on the future of our students.”

Note to the Community

July 17, 2024

Dear Mary Fay Families,

Welcome to the 2024-25 school year. We look forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting our new families. This letter contains information about drop offend pick up procedures as well as some upcoming dates to be aware of.

Drop-off and student arrival on campus starts at 7:20 a.m.  Please, do not drop students off earlier than that time; campus gates are locked until 7:20 a.m. We cannot have students on campus until we have supervision for them. Pickup time is promptly after the end of day for the corresponding grade level. We do have three different start and end times (see our bell schedule) which helps spread out the flow of traffic. If you have children with different end times, they do need to be picked up within 10 minutes of their school end time. We do not have supervision for children after school. If you are in need of after school care, you can inquire with the School Age Care programs through base or with Mary Fay Pendleton’s Extended Learning Opportunities program.

Drop-off and pick up will occur on the sidewalk of the drop-off loop; see  the attached map. Your children may exit the vehicle as soon as they are next to the sidewalk (highlighted in yellow on the map). Parents of younger children may want to drive their students closer to the stairs before dropping off. It is appreciated by all if you have your children ready to unload and load from the vehicle quickly. This keeps the car line flowing smoothly. Please drive slowly and cautiously through the loop as some children and adults will be walking to and from cars in the parking lot.

Buses will run in the morning and afternoon for families in the qualified bussing ranges. Complete a transportation application if you are interested in bussing. Bus drop-off and pick up is located behind the campus gates. Please, be mindful of buses coming and going through the driveway; they need some room to maneuver.

For students old enough to bike to school, there is a bike rack located at the front sidewalk.

We will allow parents to accompany their children on campus for the first 2 days of school. After that you will need to say your goodbyes at the gate if you walk your child to the school. We will have a staff member at the gate ensuring student safety. Kindergarten students go to the kindergarten yard in the morning to line up by their teacher’s classroom. First through sixth grade students go to the basketball courts on campus to find their teachers’ line up area. Seventh and eighth grade students wait by the music room until their start of school.

Our Meet and Greet will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9. Class rosters will be posted at the entrance of the school.  You will be able to meet your teacher(s) and see the location of the classroom(s). See Meet and Greet 24-25 Flier.
